Terms & Conditions

General Information

Mount Holyoke College and the Alumnae Association are not responsible for any participating students or alumnae, and do not insure the participating students or alumnae for their general or any other liability, or make any guarantee with respect to their behavior, or financial responsibility. Participating alumnae and students will be mutually responsible to resolve any differences or claims between themselves, and Mount Holyoke College and the Alumnae Association will not assume any responsibility for any such matters, nor will Mount Holyoke College and the Alumnae Association be responsible for any alternative housing arrangements if the temporary housing arrangement does not work out for any reason.

Host Agreement

By agreeing to offer free, temporary, and safe housing to MHC students and alumnae, the host understands that he or she assumes all risks and responsibility for any loss or damage that may occur as a result, including but not limited to: loss of or damage to personal property including consequential losses arising there from; loss arising as a result of death, illness or injury to either the host, others in the household, or the participating student or alumna. Mount Holyoke College and the Alumnae Association of Mount Holyoke College are not responsible for any participating students or alumnae, and do not insure the participating students or alumnae for their liability to you or others, or make any guarantee with respect to the participant’s behavior, or her financial responsibility. Participating alumnae and students will be mutually responsible to resolve any differences or claims between themselves, and Mount Holyoke College or the Alumnae Association of Mount Holyoke College will not assume any responsibility for any such matters. In addition, by opting in to the Alumnae Stay Program, you are agreeing that:

  • It is your responsibility to communicate with the participant before agreeing to house her, in order to determine whether she will be compatible with your household.
  • In the event that the participant must be asked to vacate your home before the agreed-upon date, you agree to give her 24-48 hours notice.
  • You are volunteering to house the participant. No rent, fees or household services will be expected in exchange for housing.
  • The participant is required to carry health insurance that provides medical coverage at your place.

Participant Agreement

By accepting free and temporary housing from an alumna through the Alumnae Stay Program, you agree and understand that you assume all risks and responsibility for any loss or damage that may occur as a result of my acceptance. In addition, you are agreeing that:

  • It is your responsibility to communicate with the alumna host before accepting her offer of housing, in order to determine whether you will be compatible with her household.
  • You are required to carry health insurance that provides medical coverage at the alumna host’s place.
  • In the event that you are asked to vacate an alumna host’s home before the agreed-upon date, she will give you no less than 24-48 hours of notice.
  • The alumna hostess is volunteering to house you. While you will be expected to clean up after yourself, no rent, fees or household services will be expected in exchange for housing.
