: Aboah is pursuing an economics major and politics minor at MHC and is currently unsure about her future plans but would love to work with development or in international relations in Africa. She is the cochair of Mount Holyoke’s African and Caribbean Organization and a member of Women in Business.

Edith Amoafoa-Smart ’19

Internship Site: Permanent Mission of Ghana to the United Nations
Background/Interests: Amoafoa-Smart is a summer intern at the Permanent Mission of Ghana to the UN, where she conducts research for and shadows Ghana’s committee representatives at the various committees of the United Nations General Assembly. She is a member of MHC’s Model United Nations traveling team and hopes to pursue a legal career in public policy for international development.

Nicole Annunziata ’17
Majors: History and Africana Studies
Background/Interest: On campus Annunziata ran MHC’s chapter of the Roosevelt Institute, a progressive think tank that can be found on more than 150 college campuses, TA’d for an astronomy lab, worked as a research assistant for both history and Africana studies professors, and worked under departmental assistant Holly Sharac. Her academic interests span the Atlantic slave trade and African American history to contemporary politics. She is currently trying to find her footing in her native NY and hoping to find a postgrad job that can shed some light on how to pursue her numerous and seemingly disparate interests. Annunziata is hoping to pursue a dual degree in law and public policy.

Annys Bai ’17

Background/Interests: Bai will be in Yilan, Taiwan, next year teaching English on a Fulbright Fellowship. She is currently a college access intern at Legal Outreach, a nonprofit college-prep organization for students from underserved communities. She hopes to pursue a career in consulting to continue developing the skills needed to one day open her own educational nonprofit for girls. She welcomes any career or life advice from anyone who would like to impart some wisdom on her.

Abigail Baker ’19

Internship Site: Cork Independent
Background/Interests: Baker is interning at the Cork Independent, a weekly newspaper located in Cork, Ireland. She currently serves as the news editor for The Mount Holyoke News and volunteers as a teaching assistant for ESL classes at the Valley Opportunity Council in Chicopee, Massachusetts. She hopes to pursue a career in journalism, particularly focusing on areas of the world undergoing transitional justice.

Sarah Braverman ’17
Major: Environmental Studies
Minor: Sociology
Background/Interests: Braverman is working as director for Environment New York, a state-based project of a nationwide environmental nonprofit that defends policies that protect our air, water, and public lands. In September she will be moving to Israel to work as a trans-boundary water policy intern for the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies. At MHC, Braverman was a very active member of the Student Government Association and worked as a social justice peer educator.

Ionelee Brogna ’17

Background/Interests: Brogna is a recent graduate looking to make her way into the publishing industry. She has a particular passion for children’s books. Brogna was a member of the Jazz Ensembles of MHC, WMHC, Mount Holyoke Renegades, and spent many hours at the equestrian center. She misses Mount Holyoke already and has started keeping a jar of cookies in her kitchen for M & Cs.

Olivia Chandler ’19
Major: Dance Kinesiology
Background/Interests: Chandler was a summer intern with the Paul Taylor Dance Company in 2016. She had the opportunity to shadow the company’s physical therapist as well as assist in the office on fundraising efforts. As an intern, she participated in dance classes with PTDC. She will be studying abroad in New Zealand for the fall semester of 2017, continuing her study of dance and biology with an emphasis on kinesiology. She is a member of MHC’s dance and biology departments. She hopes to pursue a career in medicine utilizing her experience in dance to treat injury, pain, and recovery.

Xuefei Chen ’18

Internship Site: Morgan Stanley
Background/Interests: Chen is interning at Morgan Stanley, NY, this summer. She is working in the wealth management technology division of the firm and sees the internship as an opportunity to help decide her career. She is interested in software development, education, and psychology. On campus, she is involved in Computer Science Society and Love Across the Coast, a student-run nonprofit educational organization engaged to alleviating educational inequalities in China.

Anna Cohen ’17

Background/Interests: During her time at MHC Cohen was a member of multiple student dance organizations, including the bhangra dance team. While in college she also studied Mandarin and spent a semester in Shanghai. She is now diving into the job search, seeking positions in social work or clinical psychology, as well as psychology research.

Lucinda Covington ’17

Background/Interests: Covington moved to New York City to pursue a career in film and currently hostesses at Carbone. Outside of her work at the restaurant, she searches for film opportunities, particularly in production design. While at MHC she led French classes and developed an interest in merging her French background with her film studies. Covington served as a Harriet Newhall Fellow, representing the Office of Admission to prospective students, and she hopes to continue investing in the Mount Holyoke community.

Background/Interests: Das is a summer analyst at Goldman Sachs, where she is interning in the technology division. She hopes to spend the summer learning more about computer science, business, and finding the best pizza in the city.

Maya Delany ’17

Background/Interests: Delany is a graduate with a self-designed major in American studies and a minor in film studies. She has a passion for activism and education through the arts, and is specifically interested in autobiographical and/or documentary film. During her time at MHC, Delany was involved in Amnesty International, both on and off campus, Undocumented Immigrant Alliance, and Asian American Students in Action. She is interested in creating content around racial justice and immigration issues, centering individual experiences. Additionally, Delany was also a photographer for The Mount Holyoke News, cochair of the Mount Holyoke Outing Club, and was a receptionist for the Speaking, Arguing, and Writing Center. She hopes to pursue a career that demands a balancing act between both creativity and efficiency.

Risha Dewan ’18

Background/Interests: Dewan is a summer intern with Fluent LLC, a Cogint company that focuses on using real-time interactions to create custom audiences and serve personalized ads that drive performance. She is a tour guide at MHC and is the publisher of The Mount Holyoke News. Upon graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in the healthcare consulting or marketing.

Background/Interests: Elliott is an archival intern at the Lesbian Herstory Archives in Park Slope. She is organizing banners that have been collected throughout the years at the archive and creating a catalogue for them. At MHC she has been a part of the radio and the Building Bridges: Trans and Queer People of Color Speaker Series. She’s not sure what career she hopes to pursue yet, but wants to relocate back to NYC post-graduation.

Ziyan “Jessica” Feng ’19

Background/Interests: Feng is a summer intern with Bank of America’s Global Technology Summer Analyst Program. At MHC Feng is a member of the Hunt Seat equestrian team and enjoys learning Japanese. She hopes to experience the full-time role of applying academics to real-life situations throughout the summer.

Background/Interests: Fortier is a rising senior pursuing an English major with plans to go to law school. This summer she is an intern for the Law Office of Rachel Einbund, PC, where she assists clients with marriage based green cards, family based immigration, and work visas. She serves as the president of the MHC Pre-Law Association, an organization senator in the Student Government Association, and big band coordinator for the Jazz Ensembles of MHC. Violet hopes to pursue a legal career in social justice and public policy.

Nyasha Franklin ’19

Background/Interests: Franklin is a summer intern with the Brooklyn Museum, learning about how to create public programs that engage diverse audiences, while also appealing to local needs. At MHC she is part of APAU and MHACASA, and loves to participate in West African dance throughout the five colleges.

Ani Gelashvili ’18

Background/Interests: Gelashvili is a global research summer intern at JPMorgan Chase & Co. She works in US RATES/SPG/MUNI research group. At MHC Gelashvili is a member of the Mathematical Modeling Club and competes in mathematical contests in modeling each year. She also studies Mandarin Chinese and studied at Peking University in Beijing last summer. She hopes to pursue a PhD in computer science after graduation and is interested in career in finance.

Sara Harda ’19

Background/Interests: Harda is a rising junior majoring in computer science and anthropology. She is a summer intern at Arabella LLC, a software and product development company that works with founders and corporations to turn ideas into products. On the weekends, she works as a digital products associate for Green America. She is the cofounder and president of E-nitiate, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting computer science education in Morocco. Harda hopes to pursue a career that is at the intersection between technology and social entrepreneurship.

Nyema Harris ’18

Background/Interests: Harris is a rising senior. She is majoring in neuroscience, minoring in Chinese and hopes to become a veterinarian. She is president of the Pre-Vet Club and has studied abroad in Beijing for a semester.

Background/Interests: Huang is a summer intern at the Museum of Chinese in America. She studied abroad in Beijing this spring semester. She was a member of the MHC basketball team during her freshman year.

Background/Interests: Hwang is an incoming management development trainee at McMaster Carr’s New Jersey office and is interested in pursuing an MBA and/or JD. She is currently serving as the head class agent for the 2017 class board.

Anjelica Jarrett ’17

Background/Interests: Jarrett recently accepted an associate position in the International Justice Program at Human Rights Watch. She is interested in human rights and social movements and intends to pursue her PhD in political science in the next few years.

Lia Kapanadze ’17

Background/Interests: Kapanadze is a recent graduate from the Republic of Georgia. She just joined a consulting firm in New York as a business analyst.

Kenice Kenlock ’18

Majors: Biology and Spanish
Background/Interests: Kenlock is double majoring in biology and Spanish with the goal of completing her undergraduate experience in December. In light of this, she will be dedicating her summer to classes in order to fulfill her prerequisites for nursing school. Outside of her academics, Kenlock has served as web administrator, secretary, and, most recently, cochair of the Mount Holyoke African and Caribbean Student Association and as a peer career advisor at the CDC. Kenlock hopes to pursue a career as a neonatal or pediatric nurse.

Shruti Khullar ’18

Background/Interests: Khullar is a rising senior majoring in economics and minoring in sociology and data science at MHC. She is a summer intern at FTI Consulting’s strategic communications practice in their capital markets communications group. She is the chair of Women in Business on campus and the cochair of the Hindu student organization, SHRI. She hopes to pursue a career where she can continue to learn and lead, wherever that may be.

Millie Koong ’18

Internship Site: Asian American Arts Centre
Background/Interests: Koong is interning with the Asian American Arts Centre this summer, focusing on public art. She is chair of MHC’s Students of Color Committee and a cochair of C.A.U.S.E. (Creating Awareness and Unity for Social Equity). She doesn’t know what she wants to do in the future yet, but it will definitely involve being in the arts.

Elena Kraus ’19
Major: Geology
Background/Interests: Kraus is a geology student interested in physical geography/GIS. She has taken classes in oceanography, soil science, and environmental studies. She plays the clarinet and serves as a board member in the MHC orchestra. Kraus is spending her summer teaching children about geology as a volunteer at Garvies Point Preserve and hopes pursue graduate studies in Earth science.

Linnan Lin ’17

Background/Interests: After graduation Lin decided to move to NYC to pursue film and music. She is also interested in working at a museum and joining the art community.

Ziyue Luo ’19
Majors: Art History and Economics
Background/Interests: Luo is an art history and economic double major. She is a summer intern with an art consulting group currently organizing an exhibition in Beijing. She is a member of the MHC dance team, RJ, and Five-College dance group, DBJ and DIAMOND. She is also a member of the MHC equestrian team. Luo is looking for an internship opportunity about business and finance.

Background/Interests: Malik is a rising senior working on immunology research this summer at Memorial Sloan Kettering hospital, which specializes in cancer care. The ultimate goal of this research is to better understand cancer development. She is the cochair of MHC’s Scientista chapter, which works for women’s representation in STEM, and a member of MoZone, an initiative by the dean of students office to facilitate diversity, equity, and inclusion. She is considering epidemiology or medicine as possible future careers.

Alessandra Massa ’19

Internship Site: A Graham Advisors
Background/Interests: Massa is a summer intern at A Graham Advisors, working for the manager of investor relations. Massa works with a family office and assists in raising capital for their originated deals, in addition to participating in a ten-week sophomore training program at Bank of America. On campus, Massa started an entrepreneurship club, is head of the MHC College Fed Challenge team, and is very active in the Russian department.

Background/Interest: Naveed is a summer intern with the Pakistan Mission for the United Nations, who work toward creating awareness and key policy issues between the UN and Pakistan. She is a member of Kuch Karo Pakistani Students for Change on campus. She hopes to pursue a career in foreign policy and political journalism.

Kimberly Neil ’17
Major: Dance Ethnography
Internship Site: American Musical and Dramatic Academy
Backgrounds/Interests: Neil is a camp counselor for the summer arts conservatory at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), an institution focusing on rigorous, performance-based training for high school and college students. She is a former member of MHRadix, the only independent news source on campus, and has written an article for Teen Vogue. Neil hopes to pursue a career in performing arts and eventually own her own dance company. Neil is also interested in fashion, marketing, and potentially attending graduate school to study clinical mental health counseling, performance studies, or applied psychology of fashion.

Caroline Ostrand ’20

Background/Interests: Ostrand has just finished her first year at Mount Holyoke and is currently doing research in the astronomy department with Darby Dyar. Although she is interested in political science and physics, she thinks she will most likely major in psychology. Specifically, Caroline hopes to specialize in social psychology, with a focus on differences in morality, group values, and group behavior.

Arielle Tait ’18

Background/Interests: Tait is interning at a nonprofit startup that uses data analytics to help nonprofits optimize their fundraising techniques. In the past, she has worked for nonprofits Students for International Development (Toronto) and the Olive Branch for Children (Tanzania) as a project manager. Her business background involves a sales internship at Oxford University Press and a business director position with MHC’s FCMUN. At MHC she is director general of MUN, a member of the Jewish Student Union, and has served on the Ways and Means Committee. This past spring she was an exchange student at Columbia University. She hopes to pursue a career in nonprofit consulting or public administration.

Lindsay Theobald ’18

Background/Interests: Theobald is a summer intern at the Lesbian Herstory Archive, working with the international periodicals. At MHC, Theobald is the managing editor of layout for the newspaper. She is hoping to pursue a career in a gallery or museum setting.

Chloe Verducci ’17

Background/Interests: Verducci is a recent graduate. She will be spending the next two years at NYU Epilepsy and Neurology conducting clinical research. Verducci is passionate about the environment, reproductive rights, and food. She hopes to attend medical school in the next few years.

Sophia Verducci ’20

Background/Interests: Verducci is a golfer on the MHC golf team. She is also an active member of the MHC Bedsider organization. Verducci hopes to pursue a career in finance and law. During the summer of 2016, she was the human resources and finance intern of WNG Inc., where she learned how to create and manage job advertisements with the job engine, Monster, as well as how to take care of billing and writing checks.

Background/Interests: Wagoner is a summer intern with Kirkland and Ellis LLP, an international law firm working in a number of practice areas. She is also working with the Indo-Caribbean alliance this summer on an outreach project meant to gather data on access to medical care in Indo-Caribbean communities and implement improvements based on the results. Wagoner is a SAW mentor at MHC and a member of the pre-law organization. She hopes to pursue a career in government and human rights advocacy, hopefully working in international policy or international law.

Zoe Zelkowitz ’19

Background/Interests: Zelkowitz is doing preliminary research this summer that she hopes will eventually turn into a thesis on the slave economy in the US while also taking a class at John Jay College. At MHC she is a coxswain on the rowing team, a tour guide for the Office of Admission, and the treasurer for the Mount Holyoke Symphony Orchestra. During the fall semester, Zoe will be interning for the Walt Disney Company in Orlando, FL, as part of the Disney College Program. She hopes to pursue a career in business development and corporate strategy.
