Ha Long Bay

Pearls of Southeast Asia

Hong Kong to Saigon

October 18 to 28, 2017

Traverse a dazzling range of pagodas, markets, colonial mansions, and harbors and the cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh. Accompanied by award-winning journalist and former international correspondent Jim Laurie, the exclusive, small ship M.S. L’Austral will cruise through sights like the iconic Ha Long Bay, also known as “Bay of the Descending Dragon.” During the nine-night trip, you’ll also visit Hue, an UNESCO World Heritage site and the former Imperial City of the Nguyen kings on the banks of the Perfume River.

Disembarking at Hanoi, you’ll travel through scenic roads to the capital city and be awed by structures like the eleventh-century One Pillar Pagoda and the Temple of Literature. Later, a visit to the port of Hoi An reveals various forms of art, like Cham sandstone and woodcarving. Ho Chi Minh City retains heavy aesthetic influences of French colonialism including the neo-Romanesque Notre Dame Cathedral and Saigon Opera House. Pre- and post-cruise options are available in Hong Kong and Angkor Wat respectively.
