Wellesley Club Health Event: Heart Truth for Women & Menopause
Dr. Connie B. Newman '74, an endocrinologist and Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at NYU School of Medicine, will explain the facts about heart disease in women, the risk factors that lead to heart disease and ways to take action to lower your risk. Her research has focused on hypercholesterolemia and cardiovascular disease, and the statins.
Dr. Rebecca Fenichel, an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology at the NYU School of Medicine, will review common symptoms related to menopause and touch upon some of the "how and when" controversies regarding available treatments including hormone therapy. Dr. Fenichel is a graduate of Yale University and the NYU School of Medicine, and was a Women's Health Scholar at the Center for Menopause, Hormonal Disorders and Women's Health at Columbia University.
