SUMMARY:Club of Philadelphia Flower Show Tour (Philadelphia\, PA)
DESCRIPTION:Experience spring early and join the Mount Holyoke Club of Philadelphia on Tuesday\, March 8 for a tour and get together at the Philadelphia Flower Show hosted by two alums! \nThe PHS Philadelphia Flower Show is the nation’s largest and longest-running horticultural event\, and features stunning displays by the world’s premier floral and landscape designers. Started in 1829 by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society\, the show introduces a great variety of house and garden plants\, floral and landscape design concepts\, and organic and sustainable practices. \nThis year\, The Philadelphia Flower Show theme is “Explore America!” From Acadia to Yosemite\, PHS and the Park Service are engaging those who know and love the parks\, and inviting a new generation to discover the special places that belong to us all. Acres of floral designs\, gardens\, and heart pounding adventure await visitors. Proceeds from the Flower Show benefit the year-round programs of PHS that have become national models of urban greening\, including City Harvest\, which creates green jobs and supports a network of community gardens that raise fresh produce for families in need; Philadelphia LandCare\, which has transformed and maintains more than 10 million square feet of vacant land in the city; and Plant One Million\, a tri-state campaign to restore the region’s tree canopy. \nPick up your tickets from Will Call\, where your tickets will be waiting for you and meet the group in front of the Will Call booth (West Entrance at 12th and Arch Streets) \nPurchase tickets here \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Club of Central and Northern Arizona Book Group Meeting (Phoenix\, AZ)
DESCRIPTION:The next meeting of the Mount Holyoke Club of Central and Northern Arizona book group will be at the home of Barbara Burkholder in east-central Phoenix.\nOur group selected William Mulholland and the Rise of Los Angeles by Catherine Mulholland for discussion. \nOur book group meets about every 6 to 8 weeks to discuss a book we have all read. We also select the next book to read from suggestions by members of our book group. During the evening we have a chance to catch up with each other’s activities and interests and often have a lively discussion about other matters\, often stemming from the book we may have just read or current events. We also encourage members of our book group to attend even if they have not finished reading the book – we realize many of us are busy and do not need added pressure about reading the entire book. This is intended to be an enjoyable social gathering for MHCers in the area. If you would like additional information\, please contact Liz Roe\, our club’s book group coordinator. Also\, please contact Liz Roe if you plan to attend or if you have any questions.

DESCRIPTION:Mount Holyoke College’s Miller Worley Center of the Environment is hosting the following event! Join us in Gamble B Auditorium\, in the Art Museum building\, for a discussion on Enduring and Evolving: National Park Narratives with Heather Hansen ’94. \nThe stories that get told are often a product of who’s in the room\, or around the campfire\, telling them. The history of national parks and the National Park Service is no different. These narratives must shift\, expand\, and diversify to better represent a complex reality and to keep parks and their purpose relevant in the next century.
