SUMMARY:Keep It Simple: Writing in Plain English with Karen Gray ‘80 (Washington\, DC)
DESCRIPTION:Seize the opportunity to make the all-important first impression. Let your writing inspire confidence in your products and services—and you. \nYour audience should understand your message the first time they read or view it. \nWriter\, editor\, and plain language practitioner Karen Gray ’80 will show you how to solve your word problems. Summer interns and communicators of all stripes will take away techniques to write clearly and concisely. \nPesky paragraphs or sinewy sentences got you down? E-mail examples of grammatical gobbledygook or babbling bureaucratese to Karen_avant@hotmail.com by July 8\, and we’ll make sense of the nonsense during the workshop.

DESCRIPTION:Join the class of 1964 for a mini-reunion in New York City around the Vespers concert. This very special MHC tradition is in its seventy-ninth year. Over one-hundred singers and musicians travel from campus to march in a candlelight procession and perform a holiday concert. The concert is held at St. Bartholomew’s\, a magnificent Byzantine Romanesque church at Park Avenue and 51st Street. \nLily Klebanoff Blake is organizing the following events: \n\nFriday\, December 5: Dinner at a restaurant near St. Bartholomew’s\, followed by the 8 p.m. Vespers concert\nSaturday\, December 6: Visit the Neue Galerie\, a museum devoted to Austrian and German art\, housed in a landmarked mansion on 5th Avenue. See an exhibit of portraits by Egon Schiele\, and the magnificent golden Klimt painting of Adele Bloch-Bauer. This will be followed by brunch.\n\nLily and bridges chair\, Mary Lee Warren\, are also hoping to plan a Bridges get-together with the class of 2014. \nPlease RSVP to Lily if you are interested in coming. Vespers tickets vary in cost and may be purchased from the NY club.
