Conference attendees arriving on Friday will have an opportunity to experience the Dining Commons starting at 5 p.m. Meal vouchers will be available at the conference check-in desk open from noon–6 p.m. in Mary Woolley Hall, 2nd floor. Those arriving after 6 p.m. can pay for their Friday dinner at the Dining Commons and submit their receipt for reimbursement after the conference. |

9:15–10 a.m. A Conversation on the Intellectual Life of Mount Holyoke Jon Western, dean of faculty and vice president for academic affairs, will discuss the imperative of liberal arts education in a world with highly complex and interconnected global challenges. He will present how a liberal arts education, and an MHC education in particular, is preparing our students to understand and confront some of the most pressing challenges of the 21st century: climate change, resource scarcity, environmental degradation, global economic, social and cultural inequality, and globalization and its backlash, among others.
