West and Southwest Alumnae Regional Council

Each year, the Alumnae Association and Clubs Committee organize a day of training for club and group volunteers from a particular region, referred to as the Alumnae Regional Council. This year, volunteers from the West and Southwest clubs/groups are invited to Houston, Texas, for a weekend designed to provide them with tools and information for their volunteer work, as well the opportunity to network with fellow alumnae. Clubs Committee members and Alumnae Association staff facilitate training and discussion sessions with the objective of promoting and maintaining effective communications among the leadership of clubs and groups.

Attendance

We feel strongly about the value of this training and are offering a reimbursement package to send up to two representatives from each club/group. Ideally, we would like to have the president/contact and one more volunteer from each club/group attend. If a president/contact cannot attend, another volunteer may be sent in the president/contact’s place. Additional volunteers may also attend at the club/group’s expense.

If no one from your club/group can attend, please consider sending someone who might not officially be on your board, but has volunteered for the club/group and could bring back valuable information for you.

Reimbursement

The Alumnae Association will reimburse travel expenses of up to $250-$300 to and from the event. If, however, your airfare and transportation would cost more than $300, please be in touch with Maya D’Costa at the Alumnae Association. In an effort to manage the Alumnae Association’s volunteer travel expenses effectively, we urge each of you to travel as economically as is possible, and to book early. For those of you coming from nearby, do try to carpool if feasible.

Accommodations

Accommodations for Friday night will be arranged by the Alumnae Association at the Houston Marriott West Loop by The Galleria. For those that do not have flights leaving Houston at a reasonable time after Saturday’s sessions, the Alumnae Association will arrange accommodations at the same hotel for Saturday night as well.
