Spring Flower Show “Tropical Oasis”
The tropical theme of this year’s Talcott Greenhouse Annual Flower Show is seen in the vast selection of plants and flowers, featuring cymbidium orchids, palm, clivia, viola pansies, anthurium, and more.
“The main showcase area features a miniature waterfall, with black soil to represent volcanic lava. The side benches along the walls will have mainly daffodils and tulips. Who doesn’t love seeing beautiful flowers after a long winter? And the flowers smell great as well; it’s always a treat for the senses,” says greenhouse manager Russ Billings.
The spring flower show has been a beloved tradition on campus since 1962, when the greenhouse manager decided to put on an event that would involve the larger community of South Hadley, alongside Mount Holyoke students, while also showcasing the beauty of MHC’s Talcott Greenhouse.
