Bio-Hazard Performance (Washington, DC)
October 12, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Join DC-area alumnae for a one-woman show by Sarah Greer ’92 on Sunday, October 12 at the State Theater in Falls Church, Virginia. The performance is a benefit for the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) of Northern Virginia, as part of its annual Comedy Night fundraiser. The gala will feature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and a raffle.
“Bio-Hazard” is the true-to-life story of Sarah Elizabeth Greer, a free spirit who grew up feeling like she just didn’t belong. Raised in the quiet Pennsylvania Dutch town of New Holland, Sarah’s world is turned upside down when her quirky, over-the-top Greek biological mother crashes into her life. The spark between Sarah and her “bio” brings Sarah the sudden promise of understanding, connection, and new meaning to her existence, but it ends up propelling her into confusion, an identity crisis, and the all-too-familiar feelings of rejection. Ultimately, Sarah’s journey of feeling lost, being found, and getting lost all over again, sends her on a hilarious, moving, and often pathologically extreme quest to try to come to terms with her life and overall purpose in the world.
