“Front Row Center: Women and Theater Design”
In this presentation, renowned theater designer/scholar Vanessa James explores the work of distinguished women designing for live theater and film. At Mount Holyoke, she also conceived and organized the first American Women in Design Symposium and the first International Dramaturgy Symposium. James came to America in 1968 from the UK. For many years James has been an art director in New York for theater and films. James’s designs are well known for their innovative use of unusual materials.
