Midwest Alumnae Regional Council
April 8–9, 2016
Detroit, Michigan
Club and group volunteers from the Midwest and Toronto are invited to join us for the Midwest Alumnae Regional Council (MWARC).The MWARC is designed to provide club and group leaders and volunteers with tools and information for their volunteer work, as well as the opportunity to network with fellow alumnae.
This event offers attendees the opportunity to share engagement strategies, challenges, and successes. Whether you are a small, informal group or a large, formally structured club, we’re sure that you have something valuable to contribute to our discussions and are confident that you’ll come away with new ideas and inspiration.
Tentative Agenda
Friday, April 8
We’ll kick off the weekend with a joint event with the Detroit and Ann Arbor clubs at approximately 7:00 p.m. The Club of Detroit will be showcasing Detroit’s renaissance. Afterwards we’ll have time for networking and conversation.
Saturday, April 9
Saturday’s agenda will cover a range of topics including College and Alumnae Association updates, resources for club and group volunteers, ways to successfully engage alumnae, and succession planning. We’ll wrap up by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, in time for those of you having flights out that evening.
Location
All events will take place at the Westin Detroit Metropolitan Airport hotel located inside the Detroit Metropolitan Airport in the Edward H. McNamara Terminal.
Attendance
We feel strongly about the value of this training and are offering a reimbursement package to each club and group to send up to two representatives. If no one from your club/group can attend, please consider sending someone who might not officially be on your board, but has volunteered for the club/group and could bring back valuable information.
Travel Reimbursement
The Alumnae Association will reimburse travel costs for two representatives from each club or group.
Hotel Accommodations
For those of you who are not within driving distance, the Alumnae Association will arrange for your overnight accommodations at the same hotel as the event, the Westin Detroit Metropolitan Airport. Accommodations will be arranged on a shared basis for Friday night. If you don’t have a flight leaving at a reasonable time after Saturday’s events ending at 5:00 p.m., the Alumnae Association will arrange for your Saturday night accommodations as well.
The hotel is located inside the Detroit Metropolitan Airport in the Edward H. McNamara Terminal and offers great convenience for flights in and out of the airport. Delta is located in the same terminal as the hotel and a flight departure time of 6:00 p.m. or later on Saturday is sufficient to make your Delta flight. A departure time of 6:30 p.m. or later is sufficient to make a flight out of any of the other terminals.
Due to budget constraints, accommodations are based on double occupancy. Single room requests will be considered but not guaranteed. If you request a single room, we will need to bill you for half of the cost of the room.
