Vespers New York City 2012
On December 7, 2012 the greater Mount Holyoke community gathered at St. Bartholomew’s Church in New York City for the annual Vespers ceremony. The night consisted of a traditional candlelight processional and familiar carols for all to sing. The audience was led by the Mount Holyoke Glee Club and Chamber Singers, a symphony orchestra conducted by Professor Tian Hui Ng, vocal jazz directed by Mark Gionfriddo, English handbells, and organ accompaniment by Larry Schipull.
Net proceeds supported the New York Alumnae Scholar Fund, which provides scholarships to women attending Mount Holyoke from New York City. Additionally, the Club donated $1 from each ticket to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City in order to assist those most devastated by the recent Hurricane Sandy.
