Alumnae Shine in Fulbright US Student Program

Mount Holyoke alumnae have shined this year in the Fulbright US Student Program competition! Out of ten MHC semi-finalists announced in January, seven are alumnae! Fulbright offers three different kinds of grants that allow winners to assistant teach English (ETA), do independent research, or pursue a master’s degree in more than one hundred different countries abroad.

Who plans to do what? Flynn Vickowski ’14 plans to research Andean bears in Peru, while Candice Whitney ’15 hopes to investigate North African businesswomen in Italy. Hannah Hohenstein-Flack ’15 will pursue a master’s degree in international relations in Wales. Ashira Pelt ’15 (Malaysia), Kristin Johnson ’15 (Brazil), Lily Huang ’15 (Bulgaria), and Wendy Mellin ’12 (Belgium) all intend to assistant teach English. Semi-finalists will hear whether or not they have won the grant between March and May.

Interested in Fulbright? Christine Overstreet, National Fellowships Advisor, supports both seniors and alumnae in their applications.
