Financial assistance and awards

Financial assistance

The European Alumnae Council is able to offer financial assistance for a limited number of alumnae who may not be able to attend otherwise due to financial hardship. Financial assistance covers the registration fee and an allowance of a maximum of 50 euros for travel, if needed. Please note that assistance towards travel costs will be given in person at the Symposium as reimbursement.

Requests for a financial assistance application form should be made by email to the Chair of the European Council prior to registration. Please mark email requests: “Greece Financial Assistance.” Subject to funds being available, applications may be accepted up to July 17, 2019. You are encouraged to apply before this date. Completed forms will be treated in strict confidence.

Please note: Recent alumnae should take into consideration that they are already being awarded a discount of 70 euros. Financial assistance is for extraordinary circumstances only.

Renee Scialom Cary Award for students

In celebration and fond memory of its founder, Renee Scialom Cary ’48, the European Alumnae Council offers two or more awards to Mount Holyoke students in their junior or senior year (graduating classes ’20 or ’21) studying in Europe in the 2019-2020 academic year. The awards consist of free registration to the Symposium and a monetary contribution of 100 euros towards travel costs to Greece. Please note that assistance towards travel costs will be given in person at the Symposium as reimbursement.

Applicants must submit their request supported by a short statement (max. 200 words) elaborating on the following statement: “A Mount Holyoke education is a key to the world: My experience.” The final selection will be made by the officers of the European Council. The winners will be honored during the Friday Gala Dinner in Athens and their winning essays will be published.

Applications for this scholarship must be made to the European Council by email prior to registration. Please mark email requests “Renee Scialom Cary Award” and apply by July 17, 2019, at the latest.
